I'm getting ready to send out my stove parts to get reporcelained. Were the oven & broiler burners ever coated with porcelain? Mine don't seem be ever coated and they have a very slight covering of rust on them. Also was the baffle plate (I think this is what it's called-the plate the separates the burner flame from the oven interior)coated? The top seems to be done but not the bottom.

Hey Bill, The oven and broiler burners were never coated. If you are worried about their appearance, "season" them just like an iron skillet. The baffle plate in the oven was porcelained on the top. You could have it redone, but it won't stay on. As soon as a peach cobbler boils over and hits the baffle plate, it will pop off. Regards, Sam

Bill: I am curious where you are having the enamel work done. I've got one recommended source with experience on Chambers parts, but I would like to see if the prices are in line. They charge about $30 for drip pans, $45 for burner grates, and $40 for the actual burners.

I'm going to send my parts to Gigi's Holldale Appliance in South Gate, CA. I found her through this website, specifically from Tura Heckler. Her prices are cheaper than what you stated. Tura also suggested Custom Chrome in Long Beach CA for rechroming. I'm in New Jersey and I don't mind spending the money for shipping out the burners and etc. to California since the total shipment shouldn't weigh that much. However I'm not so sure I want to send my parts out for rechroming to CA I can't imagine what the shipping cost would be. If anyone knows a rechromer in NJ please let me know.

Try calling your local motorcycle shops - ask them who does quality chrome work for a reasonable price. They should know.

Tell the re-chromers you want something that is of high quality and can take high heat.
